a new sort of project.

so i'm trying to come up with ways that i can continue to feed the fire of creativity in a season where i use my creativity to put food on the table. my job is AMAZING and i'm honestly so grateful- but being creative on demand...? doesn't that go against everything internal in an artist's heart? (the answer: a resounding yes. :)) to you non-artsy types, let me explain: it's seriously so much about what you feel. and when you feel it, YOU FEEL IT. when you don't, you don't. when you're hired to do this for a living, all that matters are results. which is totally and completely understandable, but the heart part gets a little lost sometimes.

this is my project for the winter, and i'm excited about "feeling" it. looking for inspiration. sharing because i want to. learning and growing. blah blah blah. :)

the rules are simple: the images posted will be b&w photos. mostly of a personal nature. i'll do my best to show/tell you stories- thanks for following along.

with love,
n

A musician doesn't get up and perform an award-winning solo without days, weeks, years of practice. They may not have practiced exactly what they ended up playing but I bet they practiced something in case the fires of creativity fail in the crucial moment. :)

Are you planning to post on a particular schedule (e.g., every day? once a week?)?

  5. tap-

oh, absolutely. practice is the whole reason WHY i'm able to "produce" on demand whether i feel inspired or not. :) but it still, even if only to myself, photography is so much better when there's heart behind it. :) going off your analogy, a great composer doesn't have to compose in front of his audience... but a photographer often has many eyes watching and a specific timeframe in which to work. haha. it's the debate that could never end. :) but i am all about practicing, for sure. it's saved my rear and shaped my skills more times than i can count!

in terms of the schedule, i don't want to get too specific in case things get busy but i am going to shoot for having a new post every 2 or 3 days.
